This year’s 10th annu al Auburn Heights Invitational spotlights Screen Stars, local cars mat ching those on the big and small screen. Some of the memorable automob iles that guests will experience include a 1967 Alfa Romeo Duetto Spid er (The Graduate), 1932 Ford Roadster Coupe (American Graffiti), 1961 Chevrolet Corvette (Animal House) and 1980 Ferrari 308 GTSi (Magnum P. I.).\n \nAlso featured are some of the finest early automobiles of th e last century, including a 1910 Mercer Model 30 Speedster, 1913 Locom obile Model R, 1931 Ahrens Fox Fire Engine, and 1962 Cadillac Limousin e. Visitors can explore the recently renovated Marshall Steam Museum, which includes a new attraction: an exhibit of 80 extraordinary pedal cars! The display is only on view for a limited time and a perfect add ition to the evening. While visiting you will discover what life was l ike when the automobile was a novelty and the world was transitioning from the era of the horse and carriage to the age of the auto.\n \nBe sure to come hungry (and thirsty), plus bring your bidding face to co mpete for one-of-a-kind experiences, such as a ride in a PT-17 open co ckpit biplane (with all proceeds from the silent auction and raffle be nefitting the Joseph Boxler Education Fund, which supports educational programs at the Marshall Steam Museum). Food will be available from M ama Mia Continental Fusion food truck, as well as ice cream from Woods ide Farm Creamery. Beer from Dew Point Brewing of Yorklyn, DE, will be available for purchase along with wine selections from Total Wine.\n  \nAll proceeds from the event support the Marshall Steam Museum and F riends of Auburn Heights (FAH), a 501c3 nonprofit organization dedicat ed to preserving and operating the extraordinary collections entrusted to its care.\n \nEVENT DETAILS: The event will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2021, at Auburn Heights, 3000 Creek Road, Yorklyn, Delaw are. Exhibit vehicles will remain on view from 12:30 pm to 4:30 pm, wi th delicious fare (including beer and wine offerings) available for pu rchase. Admission includes entry to the Marshall Steam Museum, which h ouses the world’s largest operating collection of Stanley steam cars , plus free steam-popped popcorn from the museum’s restored 1930s Cr etors popper, and rides on the Auburn Valley Railroad.
