On Saturday, August 18, at 6:00 we will open our doors to Peter for an ex clusive screening of his award-winning motorcycle film,\nBOL D’OR\nS ponsored by the Simeone Museum, this one-night event will feature fo od, film and a night to remember for any race fans.\n\nBol d’Or – (24 hours of Le Mans) – It is virtually impossible to convey to an observer the actual agonies and ecstasies that a competitor experience s when racing a motorcycle for 24 hours. There is no medium that can t ruly inject the necessary adrenaline and extract blood to produce the accuracy and extremes of the highs and lows. The highs that make a rac er believe he is immortal and the lows that often see him all too clos e to death’s door. Film Maker Peter Starr, who himself competed in 2 4-hour motorcycle races of this ilk in the 1960s, returned to the elem ent of motorcycle racing that he knew best. In 1976 Starr took his fil m crews to Le Mans, France to cover the famous Bol d’Or, a 24-hour r ace that had become the jewel in the crown of endurance road racing.  61 motorcycles, 122 riders, 250,000 spectators and 24 hours of gruelin g competition.\n\nJean Claude Chemarin and Alex George, (Honda) won th is event. Other stars featured in this classic racing drama included J ean Francois Balde, Christian Sarron, Yvon DuHamel, Pat Evans, Dave Cr oxford, and Gary Green.\nAs attrition took its toll, the attention tur ned to the sheer magnitude of the event.
