SUMMARY:Poster Cars Demo Day at The Simeone Museum!
DESCRIPTION:Every kid had their favorite car poster hanging up on the
ir bedroom wall at one point or another in their life. Not every kid g
ets to see them in real life!\n\nThis is your chance to see some of ou
r favorite poster cars running live and up close. Join us as we bring
down the ropes and bring you closer than ever to some of the most beau
tiful and historic cars of all time.  Joining us for the day will be
noted automotive photographer Michael Furman and Simeone Museum staff
photographer Andrew Taylor who will discuss elements of automotive pho
tography.\n\nCOLLECTION CARS TO BE FEATURED (WILL BE PRESENTED AND DRI
VEN)\n1933 Squire – As a very young man, Adrian Squire dreamed of
making the perfect sports car and after inheriting a small fortune, he
made his dream a reality. Squire built these cars to such a high stan
dard, and at such great cost,  the company would go out of business a
fter only 7 were built.\n\n1935 Auburn 851 – In designing the spor
ty cars section one realizes that throughout the entire 1930s, there w
as essentially only one company that truly attempted to produce a seri
es of two-passenger, extra sporty cars. The Auburn, Cord and Duesenber
g firm emphasized performance, good looks, and tried to reach a market
which was either untapped or uninspired.\n\n1937 Alfa Romeo 8C 2.9A
 – Clearly, the most advanced sports car of the last half of the 1930
s was the Alfa Romeo 8C 2900. With double overhead cams and valves, tw
o superchargers, a transaxle, independent four-wheel suspension adjust
able from the seat, and a magnificent styling, automotive experts beli
eve that these cars could not be beaten on the track or on the road.\n
\n1958 Aston Martin DBR1 – There was never any doubt that the Asto
n Martin DBR1 reigns supreme among the 1950’s sports racers, and con
sequently among the very, very few epitomic examples of the sports car
genre. This car won the 1958 Nurburgring 1000km race and raced at Le
Mans 4 times. It was driven by legends such as Stirling Moss, Jim Cla
rk, Jack Brabham and Carroll Shelby.\nSPECIAL GUEST CAR  (WILL BE PRE
SENTED BUT NOT DRIVEN)\n1963 Ferrari 250P – The very first 12-cylin
der mid-engined Ferrari was unveiled in March of 1963. World-renownedÂ
coachbuilder Pininfarina gave the car a wonderfully clean and sharp l
ine that made it stand out as a prototype. The 250 P didn’t take lon
g to makes it mark. It won some of the most prestigious races in the
world including victories at Sebring, Le Mans, and the Nürburgring.\n
