Back in September, my 8 year-old grandson, Nicky, began to get random nosebleeds and tremors for unknown reasons. After numerous doctor visits and other testing, which still didn’t give a definitive answer, the doctor decided to do an MRI. We didn’t think it would be anything serious, and weren’t too worried about what it would show. However the MRI showed a huge mass in his brain (on 1/22/18), and he was admitted to CHOP emergently that day. A biopsy of the mass was done, and the results that came back were devastating. He is diagnosed with Glioblastoma Grade 4, and it is thought to be incurable. He will be receiving Proton treatments starting February 21st, for eight weeks: 5 days a week for 40 minutes a day. To ease some of the burden of medical bills, travel bills, and whatever else might be thrown their way, as both parents will be out of work, we are establishing the Nicholas Rutherford Fund.
