Zora Arkus-Duntov, the man who made the Corvette into a world class sports car passed away from cancer at the age of 86 in 1996. Even after retiring from GM in 1975, Arkus-Duntov continued his involvement with the Corvette, including driving a bulldozer at the ground breaking of the National Corvette Museum. His ashes are interned in the Museum.
