Highland Park Plant in 2015
My friend Marion Miele Christiansen told me "This is the Highland Park Sales and Service Administration Building (NN). The first Henry Ford Trade School started here in the parts department. Immediately north of this building was an orphanage. Mr. Ford wanted the children to have some sort of chance in life, so he created the trade school. The building has been unoccupied since the 1970's. The building and attached garage (OO) were purchased by the Woodward Action Association. We are ready to begin the environmental remediation process. There isn't much to do in the way of asbestos removal--which is a pleasant surprise. The next step is to find funding for a new roof. We hope to restore the building so that it can become a welcome center, information center, and the starting point for an all-inclusive Ford history tour."
