Charles Nash, born into poverty on January 28, 1864 moved to Flint and found employment with the Flint Wagon Works, owned by William Durant. Became the manager of Buick and, in 1910, the financially troubled GM. Turned losses into profit but was voted out in 1915. Bought Jeffery Motor Company in August, 1916. Renamed it Nash Motors. Retired from Nash in 1936.
