Event Description

Every kid had their favorite car poster hanging up on their bedroom wall at one point or another in their life. Not every kid gets to see them in real life!

This is your chance to see some of our favorite poster cars running live and up close. Join us as we bring down the ropes and bring you closer than ever to some of the most beautiful and historic cars of all time.  Joining us for the day will be noted automotive photographer Michael Furman and Simeone Museum staff photographer Andrew Taylor who will discuss elements of automotive photography.

COLLECTION CARS TO BE FEATURED (WILL BE PRESENTED AND DRIVEN)

1933 Squire – As a very young man, Adrian Squire dreamed of making the perfect sports car and after inheriting a small fortune, he made his dream a reality. Squire built these cars to such a high standard, and at such great cost,  the company would go out of business after only 7 were built.

1935 Auburn 851 – In designing the sporty cars section one realizes that throughout the entire 1930s, there was essentially only one company that truly attempted to produce a series of two-passenger, extra sporty cars. The Auburn, Cord and Duesenberg firm emphasized performance, good looks, and tried to reach a market which was either untapped or uninspired.

1937 Alfa Romeo 8C 2.9A – Clearly, the most advanced sports car of the last half of the 1930s was the Alfa Romeo 8C 2900. With double overhead cams and valves, two superchargers, a transaxle, independent four-wheel suspension adjustable from the seat, and a magnificent styling, automotive experts believe that these cars could not be beaten on the track or on the road.

1958 Aston Martin DBR1 – There was never any doubt that the Aston Martin DBR1 reigns supreme among the 1950’s sports racers, and consequently among the very, very few epitomic examples of the sports car genre. This car won the 1958 Nurburgring 1000km race and raced at Le Mans 4 times. It was driven by legends such as Stirling Moss, Jim Clark, Jack Brabham and Carroll Shelby.

SPECIAL GUEST CAR  (WILL BE PRESENTED BUT NOT DRIVEN)

1963 Ferrari 250P – The very first 12-cylinder mid-engined Ferrari was unveiled in March of 1963. World-renowned coachbuilder Pininfarina gave the car a wonderfully clean and sharp line that made it stand out as a prototype. The 250 P didn’t take long to makes it mark. It won some of the most prestigious races in the world including victories at Sebring, Le Mans, and the Nürburgring.
