This is a General interest post for auto aficionados sharing a pictorial history over the decades. I hope you enjoy the educational - historical information... The Eckhart family built carriages in Auburn Indiana and later started the Auburn Automobile Company The Eckhart Carriage Company had it's humble beginnings in the parlor at the family home on Seventh Street in Auburn, Indiana. The first buggy that lead to success for the family was built by Frank Eckhart in the parlor that was converted to a shop for building buggies. The business soon outgrew the parlor and one by one additions to the house's five acre lot were added. The Eckhart Carriage Company was incorporated in 1885. Two years later Frank went on the road selling products to wholesalers in Midwestern states. The business continued to grow and provided the basis for the formation of the Auburn Automobile Company. This was seen at the Auburn, Cord, Duesenberg Museum in Auburn, IN. http://www.automobilemuseum.org/
