Yesterday Pic-A-Day (204) featured a 1900 Eckhart Carriage this lead to the formation of the Auburn Automobile Company. Today's Pic-A-Day may be the earliest Auburn in existence!

History:
The Auburn automobile was debuted at the Chicago Auto Show of 1903 and slowly gained a reputation as a quality automobile. This 1904 Auburn may be the earliest Auburn known to exist. Features of both the Model 'A' and the Model 'B' are apparent in the vehicle. This model my represent a transition from one-cylinder to the two-cylinder automobiles. The total production of the Auburn automobiles in 1904 was less than 100 vehicles.

Technical:
This Auburn is powered by a two-cylinder opposed, water cooled engine. With a displacement of 142.6 cubic inches, the engine produces 10 horsepower, which is transferred to the rear wheels by a chain. The wheel base measures 83 inches. The price when new was $1250.
